Earth Day

Our very own Paula Dubin was part of the United Stated first Earth Day in 1970.
Walking in the Arbors of Amherst's blooming courtyard, Paula recalled her experiance on Fifth Avenue in New York 43 years earlier, gathered with over a million people, peacefully demonstrating support for enviornmental protection and reform.
"I always cared about people and wanted people to care about others, too." Paula explained her joy over this leap forward, "It was exciting and everyone knew it!"
Today over 1 billion people worldwide participate in Earth Day. In the United States today, the recycling rate is approximately 34% compared to less than 7% in 1970. The events of that day have brought us a long way!
