Durham Caldwell
Durham Caldwell joined The Register as a journalist in 1989 after a long career in radio and television news in Springfield, most of it at Channel 40. He served four years as The Register’s editor, then retreated into part-time, semi-retirement. He continues today as op-ed columnist, chronicling some of the more unusual happenings and some of the more colorful citizens of the Ludlow-Indian Orchard area. Aside from his Caldwell’s Notes column, Durham’s favorite Register accomplishment was his series of full-page Page Nine Interviews, which he conducted on a weekly basis for more than a dozen years. Many were with Ludlow war veterans — so many that the Ludlow Historical Commission printed a collection of more than 100 of them under the title, "Remembering World War II."  Durham has also written a novel, "Tumultuous Affairs,” which is available in area bookstores.
